Review of Holistic Vision Vol V by Dr Ganesh P Panda

Holistic Vision, Holistic Vision & Integral Living:  A  Half Yearly Journal of Holistic Science Research Centre, Vol. 5, Joint Issue of Feb. & Aug., 2014.

The articles it contains have their own specifications. These articles mainly deal with the problems of human life in relation to the changing environment from a stand point of contemporary socio-philosophical aspects. The life pattern has been affected in course of industrial development, growing pollution & ecological imbalances. How to harmonize and live a holistic living on earth became the central focus of discussion in this issue.
In the above context, an eco friendly & harmonious life style is very essential. The article “What is eco-friendly living” depicts it. This aspect is very essential today.
The Media at the cross-roads today ….discusses the role & impact of media on our life style whereas the article “Holistic Understanding about various Facets affecting life” discusses regarding the philosophy of one of the recent gurus of our present times, Dada Bhagawan. His role & particularly his views on human life are very important according to the author.
The issue includes a poem namely, “What Marvel Thy strength and Beauty” sheds a different view on life’s controller. It appreciates and glorifies the Devine supremacy.
“From Materialism to Spiritualism via Science” is a clear-cut article which synthesizes the life style from materialism to spiritualism in a way which we can say that a journey from Charvaka to Shankara. It discloses how apparently contradicting points are also mutually inclusive in a holistic life pattern. Many different contradicting philosophies have been emerged in course of history which needs to be resolved.
The other important article is, “The Language, Mathematics and Science: From observation to expression via experience”. Some of the crucial points like body, mind & speech or expression have been emphasized. Body (along with five senses) observes whereas speech expresses.
In the last but not least, the article on “Self, Freedom & Moral Agency: Towards an Ethics of Enlightenment” the professor of philosophy mainly focuses on the underlying moral and spiritual nature of man which is mainly responsible for a holistic life. He has classified human beings into the categories like social man, moral man, spiritual man which actually show the growth in human level. The writer aspires for holistic personalities with blended & resolved ones who can share the world. The world needs such personalities today.
The articles have freely expressed their views on various socio-philosophical problems of human life differently presented from shastric way of discourses. The compartmentalization of studies created problems today and therefore crux of the problems needs to be understood in nutshell and this is the science of sciences  (Yena jnatena sarvam vijnatam bhavati).
